Penetration of ICT

If experts say that penetration of IT is a major determinant in bridging the digital divide. Then I must say telephone really penetrated in rural India in last 2-3 years.

Now I can make calls to some of my relatives in a place near Sunderbans (100 KMs from kolkata) sitting here in Hyd.

India is moving!!!

Chain of Cold Storage

I saw one interesting comment by commerce minister Mr. Kamal Nath in today's ET. He said just making buildings for big malls/retail outlets won't suffice. You need infrastructure in terms of chain of cold storages across retail supply chain.
let me know if any investor would like to invest in these areas.

Dunlop Opening

During my last visit to Kolkata, I was watching local Bengali news channel. One panel discussion was going on. Mr. Pawan Ruia & representatives of different political parties were participating. I could clearly see the changing face of politics in Bengal.

First time they were lauding Mr. Ruia for helping Dunlop open. They were also asking him to take other sick units & to revive.

Recent visit to Kolkata

Well, Kolkata is changing. Rajarhat new town is really coming up. Lots of IT biggies are now setting up shops there.

Infrastructure looked pretty good. Can this be the next IT destination?

All the best to Buddha and new IT minister Debesh Das.

Reliance Fresh

Recently visited Reliance fresh retail outlet in Banjara Hills here in Hyd. Steve Ballmer also visited this one during his recent visit to India. I am quite impressed. Fresh vegetables are available. seemed to be at lower price than roadside vendors. they have an adjacent fruit juice corner to create some kind of shopping experience.

It seems they are directly sourcing from farmers from nearby areas. Already many farmers are included in their supply chain.
